Yakuza goes animatic + Topscreen Logo design

Remember that Yakuza boards I did, well the director came back to me and wanted me to convert the boards into a working animatic. Just to remind ya:
Finished that a couple weeks ago, and will show it in a few when I can. Also recently did some design work for Topscreen and their rebranding. Logo was simple, check it out:
I also did a version for dark backgrounds so it can exist on all surfaces. I thoroughly hate logos that can only exist on one type of background, or white type on yellow surfaces. It just does not work. Anywho, I'm just going to totally ignore the fact that this post is being made after quite the hiatus on my part, and just say see ya next time.

Sum Up,

Logo Design for Compound Cleaners

Check it, recently designed a logo and business card for a small company in Afrika. See how I increase the charge. Ankh ish. Won't bother you with the details. I digress. Again. But here is what I came up with during the concept period:

Oh, just believed I forgot to do letterheads. I'm on it...after these commercial breaks.

Sum up,
I get it. Trust me.

Bleep 360 Limited Logo Design / Branding

Design and Branding for a nursing agency I did. Check it out. CMYK is never an animator's friend, but had to delve into bizarro world to get this done. I came out appreciating the vastness of colour more.

maestro_elite Logo Design

Recently (kind of) did a logo for a dude I know way back in high school who's heavy and knee deep into music production. Name of the outfit is maestro_elite. I ended up throwing a few ideas out there:

In the end he chose the 'ME' crown idea (white one).

S & J Foods Ad.

S & J Foods Ltd. (www.sandjfoods.co.uk) commissioned to do a little advert for them to go in an E-mag.
Check it out, simple stuff design-wise but should stand out. What you think?:

Mupalia Pictures Ident

Mupalia Pictures responded to a networking email I sent and wanted to see what I could do for them in the ident department. Came up with this little animation and Alexander liked it. What you see is a lead up to the final render. I basically took their logo, broke it down to its elements and added a few of my own. All in all, was ok. What you guys think?

Sum up,
I did it so I could one day hold a business call overseas while smoking a cigar, drinking martini in a bathrobe while overlooking some vista and barking on a satellite phone "You think I'm enjoying this! Decisions need to be made. I'll take care of it when I get back"

Doc Heads is going Live!

I'm back. Literally just finished 9 production drawings for a feature film in the works. Feeling great, as boards are to follow. More on that later. As you may have guessed, can't go into more details, oh, sometimes working in film makes you feel like a spy. Images though are top heavy, can't wait to really dig in.

Anywho, Doc Heads' presents presently got the go ahead, so expect some filmy doccy class on current. That aside you'll see some o' my GFX... having designed the logo donkey years ago helps as well. Lesson to the wise, always put out the best at that particular moment in time, whether you are working for fee or free. Look at the ad space for the program:

Starts September, 25th 9 pm. Sundays. Gotta love it. Good job Tristan.

Sum up,
Production drawings are awesome, Harbinger the ebook is Live on Amazon, iBooks, Reader and Nook. Good stuff, busy month ahead.

Born to Render (Enemies Useless)

Taking a brief respite from crazy rendering, and also prioritising the prioritising sessions I have for upcoming jobs. "You! the one in the tacky jacket. How much you got? No money. You want it for free?! Back of the line". "All that attitude, and you still unclear about what you're after? Back of the £$%&ing line". Excuse my french. You'd think I'd have gotten used to it by now. Been busy designing, one one hand, a logo for some social care business. Company's called Three Sisters Care. I'm not sure if it's just me or does that not sound like the Fates in Greek Mythology. So in turn, makes the place sound like where old and sick people go to die. Cruel joke five [Todd voice]. Wow. Scrubs is even less funny now. Possible? Indeed. Here's one of the logos I did for the company. Client didn't like. She 'wished I had something good to say about that'. Dulani Wilson aint sh!t.

Was going for a convent, Scottish Widows type thing. She probably thought it was a hijab. She is an advocate against them, as it's a means of controlling women in the Middle East. The whole western debate is a bit over-hyped. Women who wear them are not integrated into society/ controlled/ cut off/ blah blah. As a black man, when anybody starts talking about assimilation and controlling what people wear, I'm just waiting for something even more draconian to pop off. I should be able to dress like Batman and Freddie Krugar all at the same time, long as I don't hurt anybody for no legit reason. But f@ck, what the hell do I know? I also noticed as I'm writing that I am censoring myself. Must be in a somewhat good mood.

Also designing some shirts which I promised Candy Rose. Stalk us both on Twitter : /icandyrose and /bluntspear.
Did some cool designs which I think would look pretty live on a Tshirt. Here's one:

My sentiments exactly.
I'd rock the shit out of that.

Also entering that Moby competition held on Vimeo. Its been an ugly weekend but I might be finished on time to enter before closing date monday. Hence the rendering and why I have time to be posting on here. I feel I have neglected this blog somehow, but I do come back in the end. Have a couple more freelance tips that should be helpful, should be up here soon.

Back to Moby, doing a video for the song 'After'. Premise is good and technology is putting my creativity and tolerance on trial. Heres an element to be used in the multi-media music video:

Just tilt that sexy head for me. That's it babe. See? It's a weed plant and The original man. Locks down to the flo'. I have some coloured images, but they're psd files and not internet compatible so I'd have to open them in photoshop save em as jpegs... too much. Will hit you with the end product soonish. I'm waffling. Night sports fans.

Sum up,
Bin Laden is dead. I know! Apparently they caught him on the couch watching images of himself. Wouldn't it be funny if it was porn? My mom (HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!) has a muslim friend who told her when they were having a discussion about the terrorist at her school, this bitch co-worker asked her if she was saddened by the news that he died and of how they disposed of the body. Lol. Ah, British xenophobia. Doesn't get old.

suicide, IT'S A SUICIDE!!!

Short and sweet. Suicide Kids is a thriller coming out in June 2011. They had a little competition going and I thought I might as well enter. Plus seems I've been flexing my design muscle of late. Getting back into the clean image. Here's one of 3:

Blood In. Blood out. Title got me listening to AOTP:

But seriously, suicide's for the weak.

Seems the church charity I did some work for wants me back. Designed a poster for them... Sorry if looks like an advert for a dandy good time in a gay club, but as any graphic designer, soldiers of art and Nazi's on trial will tell you, 'We were just following orders':

Reexporting some animations after a bit of a tweek. It's taking forever. But hey who's watching time. Tick Tock.

Sum up,

My words are fortified through struggle. Your words are empty and ring hollow. I'm sorry that you can never relate.
