M & S just got Blunted (hopefully).

M & S. The Marks and Spencers. You know, the people that made that ad with the hot black french chick in underwear. Mm. But are they financial supporters of Israel jingoism? 'Higher' quality products for even higher prices?

Well, I don't know about all of that...but helped out with a pitch Pretzel Films (pretzelfilms.com) is putting forward to them. Something about being able to view your payslips online...I don't know. It was done in the style of Sliding Doors, but screen is split down the middle, one showing a woman looking for a payslip the old way, and the more easy, efficient computerised M & S approach. Consisted of 4 panel story art, in colour, something that should have taken me just a few hours...took longer, as being a story artist... changes keep popping up.

Funny thing is, the first chick I drew (protagonist) was your typical model-type, happy, white and not a care in the world. But one of the criticisms was she was too Barbie-like- she should be 30 something with 2 kids, less shapely etc. And they sent me to M & S site to look at examples of their business suits to draw on her. But take a look on M & S's site, they do not cater to the ordinary woman... anything outside the model-20 something-long hair-lightskin- toned scope was none existent. That is M&S target audience, people that look like that or people vain enough to want to look like that. And I know you're thinking, 'what about that mature chick in the ad...she wasn't 20 s0mething?' Yeah, but she was famous, well as 'famous' as anyone can get in Britain. This is just an observation.

Have a look at sketches I did (before the woman was a man):
And one of the finished panels

I used a screen shot of my iMac for the desktop- had to clear all the porn off first of course.

The Sum up,
work experience, minus the bullsh*t
