When work trickles rather than pours on...

...is annoying but you know its a prelude of good things to come. Yesterday, I met up with my brother in arms Remi King to start the edit for the Stak video. Might need to get more area shots but the initial edit is on its way and its looking very promising. Also will be putting my hands into the motion graphics pot. The Red Man animation I have been working on has had me using tools I usually don't using in AE. Which is a good thing. Thats what happens when you are self taught. If you have found a way of doing something, your not quite eager to learn much else. But once the learning process is carried, usually through forced necessity, you remember exactly why you love what you do. It's weird I know. I think its the bad 3D nightmares of old that left me frustrated after hours of modelling, rendering and double vision.

Red Man is coming along. Slowly. Exported a few animated clips and about to put them on the timeline. See how it all looks. Here are some illustrations/framework I've done in the past week. I know I said I wouldn't post anything Red Man related until I got a bulk of it done, but I've been so diligent, I don't think posting one or two things will mess with my work feng shui. Simple ish:

Also been working on a logo for music group 'Heroine Highrise'. First logo, was ok, but too funky.

Second one's not done, still working on it. Need to get my ass in gear. As it stands:

Yeah, I know, get to work punk!
 'Til then super-friends...

Sum up,
Got an unexpected text. Now I am amped. Back on my Ronin ish!
Oo, yeah, Harbinger is coming!  Like the book on Facebook or drop a message on Twitter - Harbinger on Twitter

Hindsight. Foresight into the mind state of the British director

Here is some artwork I've been rendering for some short film, bit of a dirtbag grind. That's why you all get to see a sample, before they do. Cause I'm good like that.
All the stuff you see was done in the photoshop, holy grail of digital art, and the trusty old graphic tablet. Practically paid for itself with the story art I did for the Reece music video.

I sketched images first, scanned up and get the working:

And another:

15 images. Tad much for a short film. But I am taking it all with a grain of salt. Sorry just really short with individuals that like to waste the god's time without following film decalogue. But you know me... I get's it in- hard. Also beginning the animation music video for Candy Rose. It's the last of the trilogy she had going. Just need to finish these sketches and artwork so I can focus on the vid.

Sum up,
Go hard or fade away into nothing, and get the gun app for the iphone. The shotgun- cock it and call Cameron to get his attention.

Bloody Red Dead Man, Let's get it in!

"I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none"

Always was a fan of the play Macbeth (even if it is a 'Shakespearian' play). So an idea for making a short animation has been churning in my head for over a year now. So (on and off) iive been putting together storyboards and animatics, reworking the idea twice (serves me right for not meshing out a script first).
What got me about Macbeth when I came across it in my studies in Ja. it wasnt like the others..it was the first 'tragedy' I came across, and when you surpass the language barrier, it becomes a gruesome tale of ambition and the callous pursuit of greatness. Yes, I am a Scarface fan.

Red Man, the title of the animation I'm doing really came about after watching a documentary of Scotland and reading about the true King Macbeth. What became apparent was:

  1. Scotland has always been a country that has desparately tried to ferment their independence from foreign king and rule, battling corruption from tyrannous home bred kings and traitors to France and England.

  2. King Macbeth, by all appearances was an ok king. No witches, no scandals. None.

So obviously Shakespearian Macbeth is just English propaganda, xenophobia and Anglophilia all molded into one.

So my film will be a twist on the Shakespearian play, but remaining within the play's paradigm. It focuses on Macbeth's last hours and gives an alternative interpretation of why he committed regicide and took the throne. Patriotic, crimson defiance all around.

Plus I always believed Macbeth's greatest flaw was never being overly-ambitious, but being superstitious. I got through fully animating two scenes and it looks cool. I'll get some screen shots up here soon.

Sum up,
Words to live by: "There 's daggers in men's smiles".
