Under the flesh, pass the muscle and blood...

Skeleton. Roughing out lots of key frames and inbetweens for the animation. Kept my head down for a couple of weeks and came back up to see I had sketched out a little over a third of the action. It's the dance that's most tedious. Plus got my Bamboo graphics tablet so I'll be seeing how it fares.

"Behold (not really) and I'll make you a believer".

It's gotten all sinister in here. Feel my steely hate.

Sum up,
Yeah well, still waiting on those headphones. And pancakes with syrup...

And just as I was typing this, got my Sakura pens from Hong Kong delivered to me. Hong Kong, dude! And they delivered in record time. Shape up, people!

Tyger, Tyger Burning Blunts

Throwback moment. At the risk of showing you an ugly piece of my soul that would make you shudder and cringe away from me, got a few poems published in Fire No. 32, received it months a while back.

Only now I took it up. And I realised, a lot of English poems are either thinly veiled sex acts or denotative prose broken into stanzas. Well, the anthology itself is a bit underground, but I guess thats the only way to go really. Who the hell in England would publish them anyways? My name is Dulani, I'm a Jamaican speaking about the Afrikan Diaspora. Now if my name was John Worthington talking about Meadows with reference to William Blake Blossoms and Sylvia Plath's failed suicide attempts, I'd be f***ing famous. Like imitation burberry in Maidstone. Come to think of it, most of my poems were writtien on the train while travelling to university in Maidstone. That is why they are 99.5% depressing. Travelling to hell all willy nilly. Hope the images are clear. Too lazy to scan and crop. Read then leave your comments/curses.

Got some images/sketches from Red Man, keyframes and such. Show you guys tomorrow. Got me a frigging Bamboo Graphics Tablet. About time. About to get into another project, some guys that like great things done in a week so they can enter a festival ... we'll see. Plus ended doing title/credit sequences for Sweet. Remi's finishing that up this week. Plus gearing up for a meeting with the Taylor dude, green light on the mv's. My (Grand) Aunt's here from Florida, and she brought a rahtid mango, big as me bloodfire head. You know you're home sick when eat a mango and close your eyes and have a flashback. England and your inhospitable weather/people. Other than that, I'm not busy.

Plus Inception got the gears turning and I am putting together a script looking at the power of the mind, albeit to forget. And thanks to Cameron's ConDem Party, I am doing it without permits. (extends middle finger to all the politicians [oh, and  read the poem "Politician"]).

Beauty of Inception

Waiting on the S & J FOODS business cards I designed to get here. Premium quality. Rounded Corners. Matt Lamination. shit load of gsm. all for half the price. Who says I could not make a deal? So in the mean while it has finally begun. I am revamping the website. Desperately needed a facelift, as my creations are now slave to the overlord W3C. On it's way.

Anywho, any of you lovely people watched Inception? Arguably the most original film of the year so far. It got me and my bro talking. My brother said that DiCaprio's character somehow went into a fourth level of the dream state. I said DiCaprio's character actually did not wake up from his dream state since the 'underground' dream sweatshop (the only time he fumbled the top). I slapped him in the face. He punched me in the stomach. Family bonding. The score is brooding, words 'behemoth' and 'monolith' come to mind. It reminded me of a dream I had once. Hella scary. That said, thought the film could have used more of phallic imagery, ' [real] dark recesses of the mind' etc. but maybe I'm just twisted.

Where the hell have you been?

Currently working on my website (hella long overdue). The assets almost half done. Need to do some HTML sorcery. Fu, you'll be up next. Spent the last couple weeks designing auxillary material for my sister's business....business cards, website, flyers, email signature etc. etc.

Still working on Red Man ...definitely will give you guys a preview...but i want to get most of the frames done so I can do the pencil test all at once, nah mean? Plus got few interesting calls, one from SYM, startup company that needs a creative edge. Plus I could be a part of a music video that will be happening soon, destined for the silver screen (if you will). I'll keep my head down till then.

Sum up,

Keep busy. And where is Paypal with my headphones?

Bump turn to a collosal Co-co.

Well, the PayPal bump competition is done. Where the videos got ... say 3 likes and  dislike, nearing to the end there, the videos got 4 likes and 13 dislike. The aniboom syndrome ( where people entering vote down your entry). But, despite all that, got second place. Silver shines nicely if you polish it well, right!? Those who voted, thanks meng. And my little brother, for pimping out my videos to his friends. Off to do something... either crunches or animation :). Im not even sure which one went through...but hey, it kind of feels like coming in the top 3 on Free-for-all in COD. You kinda happy you in the top percentile, but wished you didnt spend most of your time stealing crates from other players.

Sum up,

Busy Day, let's see.

So Red Man has been put into gear, drowning in pencil tests and inbetweens. But today I'm off to meet a sound designer/composer. Seems promising, after all, creative sound is half the battle for any film. But before that I have a meeting in Picadilly with some...dude, who wants to 'chat' about me being a concept artist on his film. I find such meets annoying I must say. You always meet the worse people. This guy sometime , Jason Young, not only came late but decided to sip tea, look at me through narrow eyes like he was this guy (minus the success and charm):

All because what- I told him I couldn't tell him how I would storyboard a film for him if he had no script to show. He just came with the prose the story would be built around. Naturally I ended up giving ideas, he took that and I got screwed. All because I simply pointed out the natural packing orders of things (idea, script, story art... not idea, story art, script). You want to illustrate an idea, go for concept art, operative word concept.

Generally speaking, thats the whole idea of having a showreel. What you see is what you get. You like it, check my availability. If I am available, decide if you want to hire me then we can meet and discuss; if it doesn't work out youll know by the end of that meeting, and youll find someone else. But I have a feeling this meeting is going to be a lot of "how long have you storyboarded for" "how long does it take" "have you done anything like this before" Did I not send you my CV?

Other stuff, Conversationing, a short I storyboarded as part of film London is almost done, and they will be circulating it like blunts across the film festivals. Didnt only do the boards but end credits as well (animation). Look out for that. One of the boards I did:

But nevertheless, I go on. Hopefully today is as productive as yesterday. S & J's website is up. I'm thinkin of changing the index page to be more inviting, but its pretty much done.
