#SixFanArts Numero Dos: "Sailor Moon" ๐ŸŒ™ V "Thundercats" ๐Ÿˆ

Had another go at the #SixFanArts Challenge, this time for my girl Danielle, and her request was the whole Sailor Moon squad and a member of the Thundercats. Opted for Cheetara and the rest is proverbial history.

Ain't gonna lie, back in the days of Toonami, Sailor Moon was just the thing that came on before DBZ, but in retrospect, their transformations are a thing of legend.

Check out the video below:

Sum up,

"Bloodshot" Vs. Everybody ๐Ÿ”ด

As you have probably seen over the past few posts I've been working on an illustration that I digitally painted recently for a Talenthouse competition. I would not go as far as saying it's the best thing I have ever created, but it is something that saw a bit of a return to the old me. Like using a pencil and paper and ink. Which should not be as weird as it sounds, being an artist and all. But with work, most of what I do tends to be Wacom, on-screen. So a change of pace to more tactile things was a much-welcomed instance.

The illustration and art were done for a bit of a competition for the forthcoming Valiant Comics + Sony Pictures' Bloodshot movie starring Vin Diesel. I have to say I was never as familiar with Bloodshot as I was with XO, but getting into the super-soldier, he reminds me of a Captain America meets Deadpool meets the Terminator. So, it was definitely fun rendering this one.

I didn't want to go too familiar with the key art already out for the movie (because then what's the point). As such I ended up with the idea of Bloodshot charging towards certain violence and danger, taking shots left and right, having his face blown off, yet still keeping an expression that was less "owwie" and more, "Alright, you're all starting to pissing me off".

So this is how things looked inked at first:

Then took her to Photoshop and started playing around with colour and shading. I think it turned out okay in the end. But let me know what you guys think. Check it out:

Click-clack gang.

Plus, if you could all do me a super solid and head over to Talenthouse and hit it with alike. Like, I'd be super grateful and indebted to you for life. Like kidney-level indebted. A digital kidney for your digital heart, of course. But a kidney nonetheless. Vote here: https://www.talenthouse.com/item/2266115/40c230dd

With a grimace like that...

Been steady sketching and having the pen bleed. Tactile is always king. Few things have been annoying me lately so it's always good put the energy into something cathartic.

This weeks been quite, but that doesn't mean the work stops. Whoa is me with all this debris.

Had that image inked. Check it:

I've also done a colour render and my Bloodshot Talenthouse entry is also live. Will share that and a speed art type of video I made too soon.

Sum up,
Until then superfriends,

2020. Enough.

January 2020. What a shitty start to the year. The coronavirus. Kobe. Brexit. Politics and the idiots sharing all the type of propaganda that would get a nod from Goebbels in his heyday. It's like, "okay, enough".

But alas, I'm here doing the freelance schtick, looking for work, waiting for work, then resurrecting and starting whole new projects.

Currently working on a piece that has me resurrecting the sakura pens. Technology is great but tactile is king. The feel of pen and paper should never be tossed to the side. Skills get really rusty when that happens. I've learned the hard way.

Currently WIP, but I'll share once done:

Sum up, Bloodshot to bloodclaat.

Random illustration I did for my mother's presentation. She works in a high school. Apparently the future is bleak and caked in cheap makeup.

Well what's new. Did some more board art for Gekko/blueprint.tv. Will share some of the draft artwork soonish. But at the moment I am going through some talented writer's CV and portfolio looking for some an amazballs script for a webisode(s).

Well til next time...

Redman. It comes.

Redman. Defiant. Tragic. Claiming kinghood the old fashioned way. Through blood, menage and might.

Working some more on frames in my a short animation based on Macbeth. Yeah that one. My on and off projects for years now, but it's coming together. I swear. Thought I'd share a frame I just did:

Guillotine Swizzord Move!

This is it. Hamburger Hill. Half a banana clip that you got the GTA way. RedMan frames are being completed piece by piece. This is despite trying to keep on top of producing a short film. Which is annoying to say the least. Like tending to numerous bushfires at once. But it'll eventually get done. February 15th people! Mark it to death.

Meanwhile deep in the super-secret lair of the Villainous Vagabond, the #animationvagrant concocts another dubious plan for... yeah yeah, check out a frame I did for RedMan:

Candy asked me to design another album cover for her, I think its an EP, LP cant remember. So I put my hand to pixel and managed to come up with something decent. She liked it, and you can hear and see it all on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/fair-weather-friends-single/id566564430

Some more artwork I did for a feature. Image above is the draft version. Final render has no snow topped mountains and has trees in the immediate foreground.

Gone are the days of opium. Now it's all designer this, and synthetic that. Our WW2 vets would be ashamed.

Story Art is all about narrative and composition. I am not the best in world, but I do get the job done. In the end.

Just another example of why I am a stand up type o' guy.

Title sounds like a Country music hit. But no. Chick in 5th Element-style gear, some quick concept art for michaelmensah.com. For a experimental music video. Woopdidoo.

Still doing a bit of designing. Plus meeting the director of that Stefano music video I did some animation for to discuss boards for a feature come Monday. Let's hope I have enough change for the train. Lol. Ah poor.

Apprenticeship Campaign Storyboards

Did some boards for an ad campaign about slaver...kaff! kaff! ... I mean Apprenticeships. Yeah. One of my first jobs on peopleperhour.com, but that's cool. Even ended up doing character design so can't complain. Which made me use Illustrator, a program I hadn't used in like forever. Vector is so mathy-mathy. Have a looksey:

Turned out to be one set of 4 storyboards, but I powered through it over the weekend.

My Drugs are Free... and Watermarked (Story Art)

Hold your horses, freeloaders. Your boards are coming just sit tight and wait for the god to break your ass off with a taste. I swear they are like coke fiends. But here comes the slinger.

The worse form of Story Art is the one used to 'test' your skill. Like the extensive portfolio wasn't enough. Better you ask me to see my late great examples and leave it there. Nevertheless, the ronin sharpens his blade for the upcoming carnage.

Boards for a trailer:
