Covid-19 Quarantining and not going "BK 2 SKL" 👑

Hey, well, the world's gone tits-up since my last post, hasn't it? At some point, I would have said Covid-19 sounded like a cool name for a future-traveling android, but now it all seems like we're the butt of a huge cosmic joke. And social media isn't helping with the hysteria.

Alas, thought I'd take a break from it all and post. What else is there to do? Quarantining, social distancing, introversion and all that.

Designed this album cover. Didn't get used in the end. Long story, but thought I'd share anyway.

The World Ends In 5 Days

New post! It's one of them things where you're posting non-stop on TheActionPixel.com it just takes up all the time. But you know that already, right.

But in any case here is some creative news that I can share.

Did some cover art for Scrulove next EP (nowadays we just call any compilation an album by all appearances; shows you how dated I am). It's called The World Ends In Five Days.

Came up with the basic concept and spent a hectic Sunday, trying to take the perfect picture. An unforeseen issue with lighting (not my forte, for sure), but alas the images I needed were salvageable, more or less. Blended images and textures in Photoshop and the rest is history.

Is it Hentai if you still have your clothes on?

It's been a shitty few days. Nothing that can't be overcome I guess. Just a lot of hemorrhaging and misdirection and dealing with quitters. But on the plus side, I made this sketch. Well, making. ~~Tentacle porn.~~ Nah, although tentacles are present. Think I'll make it part of the TAP t-shirt design. Will update when I've added some lines and colour.

Inspired mainly by the fantasy artwork you find gracing the cover of Conan back in the day. Oh, and did you guys know Conan is back at Marvel come next year?! Pretty awesome news. But we digress.

Who know repetitively drawing those suction cups would be so tasking. But that's where I am at currently. And if my ass would stop getting distracted I'd have probably finished already. But I am currently battling the YouTube wormhole and dealing with adult disappointment. Whoa is me. Nah, I'm alright. Thanks for asking.

PIMA + the Process of Progress

Tomorrow's a new day. Yeah well, haven't been myself. Partly due to the god awful news in Manchester and the cretins that will be sure to benefit from the tragedy by using it to spout their disrespectful respective bullshit. So trying my best to techno-detox at the moment.

So tomorrow sees me starting some new storyboard work for a particular YouTube channel. Should be good. Spent the last week, however, doing design for thepima.org. Talking elements for the website, business cards, newsletter templates, information packs... all o' that.

Minxing things up

Forgot to drop this one. Recently did some design work for artiste Minx. Known here for a while now and she's doing big things touring and all the shebang and she needed some stickers designed to further promote her brand.

Did a preliminary sketch based on what she was after and moved from there:

From there, it was a few tweaks:

Reunion Flyer design

Hey gang,
Swarmed with work this and next week. Most of it has been spent working on storyboars for Breville ads and drawing a humanoid chicken. As you do. Feels like I could use an extended holiday. Most recently, I did some quick flyers for a high school reunion. Alpha Girls chapter in MIA. Also one for Tarrant High School.

Which made me think how much would a reunion at my high school suck. Mainly because I'm still that awkward guy who'd rather draw than gossip about inconsequential bull.

Hey did a quick turn of the design hand to make this ad for Blackberrys "Go Sharp" Autumn selection. As part of a Talenthouse / Blackberrys-hosted competition. Check it out:

Merchants Of Quietus Poster: "Uriel Descending"
